Greetings Parents, 

This past week was great to be an Eagle! Our 5th Grade teachers and parents threw a great Spring Fling with DJ LeLe rocking out the evening this weekend. Our Science Olympiad Team did great in the Junior Varsity bracket in their competition this weekend, with teams placing in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in different competitions. Congrats to Lexi, Evelyn, Clara, Helena, Asher, Suhashi, Katherine, Teagan, Oneth, Myleena, Kwatar, Zaied, Ameer, and Yana!

We have a busy week as we get ready for Spring Break at The Ridge with the Book Fair in full swing and a county-wide College Day on Wednesday. Our week culminates in a Disney Musical performance by our Second and Third Grade Students!

Upcoming Events:

Book Fair Now- March 31st 

Hosted by Little Shop of Stories, the Book Fair will be open during school events and before and after school. The Book Fair accepts credit, debit, cash, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. For more details, please see the PTA Eagle Flyer. 

Wednesday- DCSD College and Career Day 

Students and staff are encouraged to show their spirit by wearing their college gear.

Thursday- 2nd/ 3rd Grade Musical- 6pm Students who are performing need to report at 5:30pm.

Our second and third-grade students will be performing in a musical program called, “Disney: The Movies, The Music.” There is no cost to attend the evening performance. A special performance will be held on the 30th so all students will be able to see the show!

Friday- School Librarian Appreciation Day

Spring Break- April 3rd-7th  

April 11th- Coffee and Conversation with Ms. Hartman- We will tackle Social Emotional Learning at Laurel Ridge. This will include how we support diverse student needs, teaching in a trauma-informed manner, and a conversation about discipline and conflict resolution in the school. A second session may be added at a different time to allow for more attendance.  

April 13th- PAC Meeting at 4:30pm

April 18th- Laurel Ridge Art Show and International Night- A Celebration of Cultures 4pm -6pm 

Ms. Shellnut has been working with all students to create International Art Pieces, and the PTA will host an International Night. A flyer was sent home in couriers with ways to support this effort or check out the PTA for more information.

May 4th- STEM Night and Science EXPO- 

Laurel Ridge will celebrate STEM learning together. We will have STEM leaders from local organizations, universities, and businesses to share the many ways Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math are in the world around us. Laurel Ridge students can participate in the Science EXPO.

Building Updates:

Spring Break Construction: 04/03-04/08

Over the Spring Break, the team completing the window project will be working on completing two more sections and finishing the sills. Please make sure that, as a community, we give them space to work. The building will be closed except for mandatory staff.

In preparation to meet the needs of students this summer, the 2023 Summer Learning Programs link is open for families to register through DCSD's website. Volleyball Camp at Druid Hills Middle School

The time has come to register for our 7th annual 2023 DHMS Volleyball Summer Camp, hosted by Ace Volleyball & Athletics! We are excited to have another year of skill drills, team-bonding games, & lots of fun! All rising 3rd through 9th-grade players are welcome to register - no matter your skill level, all players can join!

Camp is from 9:00AM-2:00PM Monday, July 24th through Friday, July 28th. The cost is $350. Scholarships are available.
