Welcome back, Eagle family!

Laurel Ridge Families,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I hope you and your family enjoyed a fantastic summer break. We are thrilled to embark on another exciting year at Laurel Ridge Elementary School.
Our administrators, teachers, staff, and PTA have been diligently preparing for a great year ahead. We are committed to ensuring every student at LRES achieves success through high academic standards, robust programs, a strong sense of community, and collaborative efforts. This year promises new challenges, growth opportunities, and memorable experiences for all.

Exciting Renovations and Improvements
I am excited to inform you about the major renovations underway at school. Over the summer, significant upgrades have been made to enhance our school environment, including:
  • Installation of new HVAC systems to ensure optimal climate control for learning
  • Addition of a security vestibule
  • Updates to fire systems
  • Replacement of the school and gym roofs
  • Installation of all-new ceilings and lighting throughout the school
  • Removal of original chalkboards and installation of ViewSonic interactive boards and whiteboards to support modern teaching methods
  • Addition of a shade structure to our playground to provide sun protection for outdoor activities
Please note that while many of these projects will be completed before the start of school, some, such as the installation of whiteboards and the playground shade structure, may continue into the school year. Student Supports at Laurel Ridge

All staff and students are part of a multi-tiered system of supports for the whole student including academic and behavior supports.  This process utilizes a systematic problem solving model to analyze multiple pieces of data to determine how all students are responding to instruction.  All students have access to support at Laurel Ridge.

Multi Tier Systems of Support (MTSS)
  1. MTSS is a coherent continuum of evidence/research based, system-wide practices to support a rapid response to academic & behavioral needs.
  2. MTSS includes frequent data-based monitoring for instructional decision-making to empower each student to achieve.
  3. MTSS provides a more complete solution. It not only implements an intervention process (RTI), but addresses behavior issues, provides for educators, and recognizes the need to incorporate outside influences.
Response to Intervention (RTI)
  1. RTI is the practice of providing high-quality instruction and interventions matched to student need.
  2. RTI monitors progress frequently to make decisions about changes in instruction or goals.
  3. RTI applies a child’s response data to important educational decision.
  4. RTI is part of an MTSS framework
