Weekly Update 8/20/2023

Week of August 20, 2023

Greetings Laurel Ridge families!

As we wrap up another enriching week of learning and growth, I wanted to provide you with a brief update on some happenings at The Ridge.

Our students have been eagerly engaging in our first school-wide STEM activity of the year: The Great Southeast Pollinator Census. Our students were citizen scientists and helped support the University of Georgia project to help protect our pollinators. Seeing our students out in the courtyard, tuned into nature and conserving habitats, was amazing.

The PTA Welcome Back Picnic was a wonderful evening filled with fun and community. It was great seeing so many smiling faces and enjoying an evening together. Our parents and families got an opportunity to participate in The Great Southeast Pollinator Census themselves! Thank you, PTA for hosting such a great event.

We have some exciting events on the horizon, including our Curriculum Night on Thursday from 6:00 pm- 7:30 pm. This is a great opportunity for parents to gain insight into each grade level and expectations for your student. Connect with your student’s teachers, explore the classroom, and learn about your teacher's approach to fostering a love for learning. There will be a rotation every 30 minutes to allow for multiple sessions.

This week we will also begin our Fall MAP testing. Please ensure your student is well rested each day for their assessment.

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to our dedicated staff. Together, we will continue to create a nurturing and inspiring educational experience for every child.

Warm regards,
Ms. Hartman
