Student Supports at Laurel Ridge

All staff and students are part of a multi-tiered system of supports for the whole student including academic and behavior supports.  This process utilizes a systematic problem solving model to analyze multiple pieces of data to determine how all students are responding to instruction.  All students have access to support at Laurel Ridge.

Multi Tier Systems of Support (MTSS)
  1. MTSS is a coherent continuum of evidence/research based, system-wide practices to support a rapid response to academic & behavioral needs.
  2. MTSS includes frequent data-based monitoring for instructional decision-making to empower each student to achieve.
  3. MTSS provides a more complete solution. It not only implements an intervention process (RTI), but addresses behavior issues, provides for educators, and recognizes the need to incorporate outside influences.

Response to Intervention (RTI)
  1. RTI is the practice of providing high-quality instruction and interventions matched to student need.
  2. RTI monitors progress frequently to make decisions about changes in instruction or goals.
  3. RTI applies a child’s response data to important educational decision.
  4. RTI is part of an MTSS framework
